Re: Lizard Music
Wed, November 5, 2003 - 7:00 PMI think I posted this a week ago and just today realized that I can't spell. (Yes I know it's Daniel with an 'e').
But the other thing I forgot was this: Does anyone know where I could listen to Chinniwag Theatre (I think) which used to run on a local public radio station here, but has since disappeared. The show basically consisted of the illustrious Mr. Pinkwater reading portions of his books and having a pleasant conversation with the hostess before and after the reading. Any help would be appreciated. -

Re: Lizard Music
Mon, November 10, 2003 - 4:19 PMMuch thanks. This was very helpful.
For anyone who doesn't want to search, Chinwag Theatre runs on WRVO at 7:30pm EST on Thursdays.
There is a live stream for WRVO at www.wrvo.org unless you live in the Syracuse/Utica/Oswego or Watertown (New York)areas, where WRVO broadcasts at the left end of your radio dial.
The official website, www.chinwagtheatre.org, says that Scott Simon is the co-host. (The episodes I recall had a female co-host, but that was a while ago so they must have switched.)
Now all that's left to do is wait until Thursday.
Woo-hoo!!!

Thu, November 20, 2003 - 5:10 PMOk everybody, Chinwag Theatre brings you the final few chapters of Lizard Music next Thursday. Woo-hoo! The live streaming works pretty good for me (may the inventors of this technology live long and happy lives). Yes it will be Thanksgiving,... but you can find an excuse to stop and listen I'm sure. I know I will.
Tonight I had the pleasure of re-living the House of Memory, Thunderbolt City, and the rest of the guided tour by Reynold.
Now I'm hooked. -

Tue, December 30, 2003 - 7:49 PMLargely unrelated, but what with "Lizard Music" and "rocks" appearing in the same post, thought I'd note that a year or two ago I came across a CD of music by a band named "lizard music" -- not a bad album, actually.
Just thought I'd share... :)

Re: Lizard Music
Thu, April 1, 2004 - 12:06 AMLizard Music was my favorite book as a 10 yr. old and continues to occupy sacred space in my mind.
one thing tho, In the last 4 years, i've become acquainted with the writings of one David Icke (theres a tribe of his readers here and also a thread on him at the conspiracy theory tribe), who has a provocative theory about an inter-dimensional reptilian race living among us and controlling history. Mr. Pinkwaters' story of an intellegent, musical lizard people living on an invisible island seemed extremely similar to Mr. Icke's theory. When i read "The Biggest Secret" I kept thinking of "Lizard Music" and wondered if Mr. Pinkwater might somehow be in on this conspiracy, tapped into the collective unconsciousness, is doing his part in uncovering said conspiracy, or just a teller of fun and fantastic tales.
regardless, my previous experience with Lizard Music made the Biggest Secret a whole lot easier to grok. -

Re: Lizard Music
Thu, April 1, 2004 - 6:16 AMSee, the difference is that Icke's a nutjob, and Pinkwater's a writer.
